What is Taecanet Springboard?
Taecanet Springboard is a web based elearning service for Primary & Secondary schools. It uniquely combines knowledge and expertise from teachers with safe and secure web based delivery. Taecanet is part of the solution helping schools address inclusion, personalised learning and assessment. Taecanet is easy to use both for teachers & students, building confidence and delivering results from the increased use of ICT across the curriculum

Why do we need Teachers?
Taecanet works in partnership with schools and teachers to develop “learning journeys” which support the learning objectives of the curriculum. Taecanet Springboard is the first version of this exciting new service and will cover Keys Stages 2 &3 in Geography, History and Science. Taecanet wishes to work with teachers from all schools but is initially looking to schools in the North West because of its base in Liverpool and the tremendous support received to date from the North West Regional SST.

Which Teachers are needed?
If you are a History, Geography or Science KS2 or KS3 teacher, keen to acquire a new skill and familiar with information on the internet that supports your subject, Taecanet would like to invite you to build learning journeys which support the curriculum. You don’t need to be an ICT expert, but being an experienced web browser would help. We will provide briefing and training on how to harness your expertise and make it available to schools throughout the country as part of Taecanet Springboard.

Why should Teachers help?
The Taecanet service will have most impact in achieving improved standards if its learning journeys are built by experienced teachers. Specifically, teachers who are motivated to extend the use of ICT in the everyday learning experience of students in school and at home. Taecanet will pay for your time either directly to you, or to your school, or a combination of both depending on the particular circumstances of you and your school. Your participation may also earn you CPD certificates or qualifications.

How do you find out more?
Taecanet will be holding briefing events at schools throughout March (by arrangement) to present Taecanet to all interested teachers, and outline our immediate opportunities for participation. Following this briefing you will be given an opportunity to register as a “learning journey creator” and become part of the team of teachers working with us to launch the Taecanet Springboard service.

What happens then?
Teachers volunteering to help will be “signed up” and individually contacted by Taecanet to agree your training and organise payment of costs and expenses. Units of the curriculum in each subject and key stage will be allocated. Headteachers in your schools will be briefed to agree the best way to get their support for your projects. Taecanet will enable teams of teachers to complete the creation of learning journeys covering all units of the KS2 & KS3 curriculum in History, Geography and Science by the end of June 2005.

What’s the FIRST STEP?
If you are interested and would like to attend a briefing, Please send an email to: ian.nairn@taecanet.com as soon as possible.
